Dosage of Chitosan Seed Soaking in Agriculture

Release:2026.09.08

Dosage of Chitosan Oligosaccharides for Seed Soaking in Agriculture

Function: Improve germination rate and germination uniformity; induce seed immunity, reduce soilborne diseases such as dampingoff at seedling stage; promote radicle growth and enhance seedling resistance to low temperature and drought.

Note: Conduct smallscale trials before largefield application.

1. Recommended Concentration (chitosanoligosaccharide technical material)

- General seedsoaking concentration: 50150 ppm (0.005%0.015%), suitable for most grain and vegetable crops.

- Sensitive smallsize seeds (lettuce, tobacco): 5080 ppm. Excessive concentration will inhibit germination.

- Large hardshell seeds (peanut, corn): 100150 ppm. Use higher dosage priority under lowtemperature sowing conditions.

For commercial 5% chitosanoligosaccharide aqueous solution: dilute 350800 times.

2. Soaking Duration at room temperature 2025

Crop type

Soaking Time

Remarks

Wheat, Rice

6-12 hours

Rice: 12 hours; Wheat:6-8 hours

Corn, Peanut

8-12 hours

10-12 hours recommended for peanut sown under low temperature to improve cold-resistant germination

Solanaceous Crops(tomato,pepper)

4-6 hours

Do not soak untilradicle breaks out; conduct germination acceleration after soaking

Cucurbit Crops(cucumber,

watermelon)

4-6 hours

Thin seed coat; avoid over-soaking

Small leaf-vegetable seeds(cabbage,Lettuce)

2-4 hours

Long soaking may cause seed rot

Potato seed tubers

30-60 min

Soak after cut wounds are dried;avoid long-time immersion of tubers
