Chitosan sludge treatment agent
Release:2025.09.17Chitosan molecules not only have chelating effects on heavy metals, but also effectively flocculate and adsorb negatively charged fine particles in water. Chitosan is used as a flocculant to treat organic wastewater discharged from urban sewers, domestic sewage, food factories, and breweries, which can effectively precipitate suspended solids in the wastewater
The solid matter in the sludge of urban sewage plants is mainly colloidal particles, which have a complex structure and strong affinity for water. Therefore, the sludge is first conditioned before dewatering to improve its filtration and dewatering performance. The commonly used method is chemical conditioning. The principle of chemical conditioning is to cause charged inorganic or organic conditioning agents to react chemically on the surface of sludge colloidal particles, neutralize the charge of sludge particles, separate water from sludge particles, and use bridging effect to aggregate sludge particles into large flocs, reducing the specific impedance (SRF) of sludge. The effectiveness of conditioning is related to the type and dosage of conditioning agents, as well as environmental factors. Chitosan is considered an excellent sludge conditioner. Chitosan is a linear cationic polymer flocculant that can effectively improve the dewatering performance of sludge.
