coagulation section chitosan
Release:2026.09.11Coagulation Section Chitosan Before Secondary Sedimentation Tank-in sewage treatment
After biochemical treatment, #sewage flows into the coagulation section prior to the secondary sedimentation tank, which is an important application point for chitosan.
Biochemically‑treated effluent still contains partially refractory colloids and trace phosphate, which may lead to high turbidity in secondary sedimentation effluent. Dosed at this position together with conventional agents, chitosan further destabilizes colloids in water and forms settleable flocs. It assists partial phosphorus removal, improves settling performance of the secondary sedimentation tank, lowers SS in effluent, stabilizes water quality and reduces burden for subsequent advanced treatment.
Usage and Dosage: Chitosan dosage: 5‑15 mg/L, applied in combination with #PAC. Prepare stock solution via dilute‑acetic‑acid dissolution in advance. Add inorganic chemicals first and then chitosan, and feed the mixture directly into secondary sedimentation tank after stirring. Over‑dosing shall be strictly avoided, as excess dosage triggers charge reversal and water re‑turbidity. Lab jar tests are required to confirm proper dosage.
