In rainy periods, combined sewer networks in old urban areas deliver rainwater mixed with sewage, causing sharp fluctuation of water quality & flow rate and steep rise of suspended solids, which may trigger effluent standard exceedance. Temporary dosing of chitosan enables fast #flocculation and #sedimentation of colloids and #suspendedsolids, stabilizes effluent quality rapidly and eases operational pressure of #wastewater plants for shock‑resistance.

Usage and Dosage: Water quality fluctuates heavily under emergency conditions, chitosan dosage range: 15‑30 mg/L, synergistically used with PAC. Prepare stock solution on‑site and increase stirring intensity. It is short‑term emergency measure and not suitable for long‑term continuous running. After shock events, reduce dosage to avoid chemical waste and water re‑turbidity.

General Note: Raw chitosan must be dissolved into stock solution with dilute acetic acid; dry‑powder direct feeding is prohibited. All dosage values are reference ranges. Jar‑test verification is mandatory before field application for real projects.
